Terms of sale and use

These terms apply when you buy or use Veil. Veil is sold by ORAM LABS S.R.L., Constantin Nottara, Cluj-Napoca, Cluj, 400503, Romania (RO43593300). "We" and "us" mean ORAM LABS S.R.L.; "you" means the person who buys or uses Veil.

If you buy Veil as a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law of your country gives you.

1. What you buy

Veil is desktop software that replaces sensitive values in your requests to AI providers before they leave your computer, and puts them back in the replies. You buy a licence to use it, not the software itself.

  • Personal licence: one person, on up to 3 of their own devices.
  • Updates: you can install any version released in the 12 months after you buy. Those versions keep working for good after the 12 months end.
  • Renewal: optional. It adds another 12 months of updates.
  • The price and any tax are shown at checkout before you pay. The licence key is sent by email, and shown on screen, after payment.

2. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. The price is a one-time payment; there is no subscription and nothing renews automatically.

3. Refunds

If Veil doesn't work for you, ask for a refund within 30 days of buying, by writing to veil (at) oramlabs.com, and we'll refund you in full. After a refund, the licence key stops being valid in later versions of Veil.

Under EU law, consumers can usually withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. For digital content that you start downloading or using with your agreement, that right may end once the download begins. Our 30-day refund applies regardless.

4. Using your licence

You may not:

  • share, sell or publish your licence key, or let people outside your licence use it;
  • remove or get around the licence check, except where the law allows it;
  • use Veil to break the law or the terms of the AI provider you use.

If a key is shared or published, we may block it in future versions of Veil and issue the owner a new one.

5. What Veil can and can't do

Veil reduces the sensitive information you send to AI providers, but it can't guarantee that it finds everything. It only recognises the kinds of values listed on our security page and the names you add yourself, and it only protects traffic from tools pointed at it. You stay responsible for what you send, and for your agreements with your AI provider.

Your requests go from your computer to the provider you chose. We don't receive or store them, and we're not responsible for what the provider does with them.

6. Our responsibility

We provide Veil with reasonable care and fix problems we're told about where we reasonably can. As far as the law allows, Veil is provided "as is", and our total responsibility to you for anything related to Veil is limited to the amount you paid for it. This doesn't limit responsibility that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force when you bought Veil applies to that purchase; later changes apply to new purchases and renewals. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

8. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Romania. If you're a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law, and can bring a claim in your own country's courts. Please contact us first: most problems are easier to solve directly.
